Quilts4Vets (Q4V) (quilts4vets.com) announced its new board of directors and officers during its annual meeting on May 13, 2024. Made up of eight members, the board of directors is an eclectic group of professionals from the outdoor, entertainment, media, voice-over, and business and organization management industries.

Since 2017, Quilts4Vets has supported physically and emotionally challenged veterans by presenting them with handmade patriotic quilts. The impact on the veterans, when they receive their quilts, is profound. The quilts are made by a cadre of volunteer U.S. makers and are presented at events held by Quilts4Vets’ key partner, Peterson Outdoors Ministries (POM) (petersonoutdoors.org) and the Lodge of Hope in Webb City Missouri.

The new Q4V board of directors elected officers and engaged an executive director during the meeting.

“The seating of a new board and election of officers will help Quilts4Vets grow and augment its footprint among veterans,” said Barbara Wright Schwinn, the new Chair/President of Quilts4Vets. “The talent and experience the new board brings to the organization are unparalleled.”

Officers

Barbara Schwinn, of Sheldon, Missouri, who has been involved with Q4V from its inception, was elected Board Chair and President. Schwinn brings an extensive business history and understanding of quilting to Q4V. She is also the veteran liaison and presenter of the quilts at the POM events.

Jenn Tincher, of Soap Lake, Washington, was elected Secretary. Tincher is the owner of JT-Quilting Longarm Quilting and Quilt Design and is a renowned quilt maker and longarm professional. Tincher also has been a maker with Q4V for years. Her unique understanding of quilt making and the quilting community will better connect Q4V with its volunteer makers.

Shellie Huth, of Westminster, SC, was elected Treasurer. Huth’s 27-plus years as an executive with UPS brings Q4V an improved understanding of how to engage and work with its corporate partners.

Laurie Lee Dovey, the founder of Q4V, was approved by the board as the organization’s executive director. Dovey’s vast background in communications and media, and her seven years with Q4V, are pivotal to the administration, vision, and growth of the organization.
